And the sage continues

Tonight at 10:30 we got a knock at the door. A deputy served my husband with a complaint for summary ejectment. The bitch filed eviction papers on us. I'm researching it now because I don't think she followed correct procedure, not to mention wasn't completely accurate in the complaint.

So now my husband has to take off work to go to court, not to mention we'll probably lose the place we're trying to get because of all this crap.
Things with the current landlord have gotten worse. She finally figured out that I stopped payment on the rent check. She came down Saturday morning and started screaming at me. Apparently, her bank credited the check before it actually went through my bank so she now thinks I somehow made her bank give me the money back. I actually did the stop payment on the check before she ever deposited it. She threatened to call the sheriff on me for stealing her money. I tried explaining to her that it didn't work that way, but she just wouldn't listen. I told her I didn't have time to fool with her and to leave me the hell alone, then walked back in the house.

As I was shutting the door, she said she was going to call the cops on my husband the next time she saw him driving. I guess she could tell that ticked me off because she took 2 big steps backwards (nearly fell down the front steps) when I stepped back out on the porch. She claims his license is expired and nothing I told her could convince her otherwise. He just renewed his license and the check we used to pay for the renewal has already went through the bank so I know darn well he's legal. So I just told her whatever, go ahead and call the cops and look like an idiot. I didn't stick around to see what else she had to say, just closed the door.

My baby is two today

We had her birthday party over the weekend when everyone could come, but today is her birthday. It's hard to believe she's already two. Seems like just yesterday that I felt her first kick. Now she's running around getting into everything.

Birthday party

My little one will be turning 2 on Tuesday. We did her party today. At first, it wasn't looking like it was going to be much of a party since hardly any of the invited guests were coming. None of my family came. Several of the guests were sick so they couldn't come. But we just invited a few more people and it worked out.

I sent my daughter to her grandparents yesterday so I could do the cake. Everyone loved it, the kids especially. They were fighting over who got to eat the characters. It was a big cake. There's probably close to half of it left. It didn't come out exactly like I had planned it, but it wasn't bad for my first attempt at fondant.

My best friend called yesterday to ask if I wanted to bring my daughter over to play in the kiddie pool. Since it was so hot, I said sure. I slathered my daughter up with sunblock and let her go. I didn't put any on myself since I wasn't getting in the water and didn't figured I'd be there more than a couple hours. When we got home later, I checked my daughter over to make sure she hadn't got burned. She was fine. I, however, fried my shoulders and upper back. I can barely move my arms. Sunburns suck!

More landlord drama

We tried our hardest to get out by yesterday, but everything worked against us. My husband's truck did sell at the last moment so we had the money. However, we couldn't find anything in our price range, except for one place that wasn't available until July. So we had to stay here. Most of the house is packed so it's a pain. I was figuring I'd just make do with a few things until we got a place, but I didn't expect it to take this long.

Well this sucks

It looks like we're not going to be able to move after all. I was hoping we'd be able to come up with the money in time, but everything is working against us. Despite having 2 of our cars in the paper, neither has sold. My laptop did sell, but $100 isn't going to get us very far.

If that isn't bad enough, my husband's boss (who is also his brother) is being a jerk and royally shafted my husband. His paychecks have been getting smaller and smaller lately. If it was happening to everyone, we'd just assume business is slow. But when he found out the other week that the other guys are making more in one week than he made all month, he was pissed. Especially since he didn't even make enough all month to cover our monthly bills, much less groceries and gas. That added to the fact he made an insulting comment about me and screwed him on his last check (he got half of what he should have made) and my husband hit the roof. He chewed his brother out and told him if this week's check wasn't better, he could shove the job up his ass. Surprisingly, he didn't get fired over it, probably because his brother knew their parents would never let it go if he did fire him. Paychecks come out today so I guess we'll see.

I'm praying something will come through for us soon. We're running out of time to move or we'll be stuck here with assholes for landlords. They're supposed to come inspect on the first. I have a feeling they'll find something to nitpick. Meanwhile, I've packed almost the entire house. We can get by on what little I haven't packed yet, but it will be pain.

Lots of good news

After I posted the last time, I was all depressed because it was like everything was going wrong. Now it's barely a week later and things have turned around for us.

To start, after 3 years of my husband suffering from a chronic illness that no one seems to be able to identify, we're finally getting somewhere. We went in Friday for an appointment with his specialist. I wasn't expecting much from the appointment since the guy has been talking about doing something for a couple years now, but never following through. I'd already made up my mind to ask him to refer us to a different specialist. But he surprised me. He scheduled my husband for a test next Friday and gave him a new medicine to try. The medicine is working already. If the test Friday shows nothing (which I suspect since the last one didn't show anything), he's sending us across the state to Duke University Medical Center (one of the top ten best hospital in the US).

Then after we got home from the appointment, I checked the bank and realized our tax stimulus had came in. I had been putting off writing out the bills because I was afraid that after I paid the bills, there wouldn't be anything left over for us to move. But I sat down to figure up the bills and realized that between the stimulus and my husband's check for the week, I could pay every single bill for the month. That means his next 3 checks can go for our move. Between his checks and him selling his old truck, we should not only have enough money to move, but have enough enough to pay for my CNA class and cover the extra rent until I start working again (because tourist season is about to start, another place similar to what we have now is going to cost $200-500 more a month). So barring some unforeseen event, we'll definitely be able to move out of this place by the end of the month. I can't wait to tell the landlords to go fuck themselves.

Then I called my baby sister, the one that just got married in October. She told me she's pregnant. As you'll recall from my earlier posts, I was concerned about her marriage since she wanted several and her husband was pretty adamant that he didn't want any. He did a complete turnaround and is thrilled. They've asked me to be her coach. She hasn't been to the doctor to find out the due date yet (going tomorrow), but going by the dates she gave me, she's due in late December/early January.

I do have to admit I'm a bit jealous. We've been trying for a second baby since last July with no luck and just made the decision this weekend to take some time off from trying. I hated to quit trying, but right now really isn't the best time for us. So we've decided that I'll go back on the pill for at least a couple months. Hopefully, that will give us some time to get settled in our new place, get my husband healthier and my hormones straightened out (95 day cycles make it pretty difficult to get pregnant)..

The story behind the move

Our landlords go back and forth between being really nice and being total pains. On their nice days, they've let us be late on the rent when my husband's been in the hospital, they give our daughter candy or toys, and occasionally give us stuff that they no longer need or other tenants have left when they moved out. On their bad days, they gripe about every little thing and generally make life miserable for anyone around. Even though our lease says we can have 3 cars here as long as they're tagged and running, they made my husband move his toy, a 76 Dodge Dart he's restoring. And I have suspected for a while that they come in while we're gone and poke through our stuff.

Anyway. The landlady showed up the other day and claimed she needed to check the heater. Mind you we've lived here almost 3 years and they've never bothered to check it before, nor had we told them there was anything wrong with it. It was a bad time since I was trying to get my daughter down for a nap and she won't lay down if there's anyone but us here. I tried to ask the landlady if she could come back later, but she barged in anyway. I went back in the bedroom to try to get my daughter down, but after a few minutes, it was apparent it wasn't happening so we came back out and I went to see what was wrong with the heater. The landlady was gone and had left my front door hanging wide open.

(no subject)

Haven't updated in a little while so I thought I'd stop in to let everyone know what we're up to. Right now we're having issues with the landlord (long story-will post when I have more time) so we're packing up our stuff so we can move as soon as we find a new place. My daughter been helping me pack although she tends to get in the way more than she helps. I made the mistake of trying to pack up some of her toys earlier and she pitched a fit and pulled them all back out. I'm going to try to get them packed up tonight. I'm leaving out the ones she plays with the most (her 4 wheeler, her musical chair, some books and her babies) so hopefully that will be enough to distract her from the fact the rest are put up. If not, I guess I'll let her have them and then pack them on the night before we move.

I did nine boxes earlier before running out of tape and tissue paper. We took a little break to run to the store to pick some up and grab a birthday present for my niece's birthday party tomorrow, then came back and started back in with the packing. Thankfully I have a bunch of boxes from when I was selling on eBay. I doubt I'll have enough though so I'm going to making the rounds to the local stores to ask if they'll save them for us. It sucks since just last week I gave away a whole bunch of boxes to my husband's friend because he was moving.

Well I've got to run so I can drop my daughter of at the in-laws. They're babysitting so we can get stuff done. I'm hoping it goes okay. While she visits them with us several times a month, she's never stayed there without one of us with her. If she does okay tonight, then she'll be staying with them every morning while I get the packing out of the way and look at new places.
